Wake Me Up when September Ends.

They would take the longest way around me to avoid bumiping into me in any way, Iike I had some germ they could catch, like my face was contagious.

   그들은 어떻게든 나와 부딪히는 것을 피하기 위해 나를 돌아가는 가장 먼길로 갔다.

   내가 그들은 잡아버리는 세균이 있는 것처럼, 내 얼굴이 전염될 것처럼

 

I can only imagine what they were saying about me. Actually, I prefer not to even try to imagine it.

   그들이 나에 대해 무슨 말을 할지 상상만 한 뿐이다. 사실 난 상상도 안 하는 게 더 나아.

 

Some of them had earrings in their noses.

Some of them had pimples. None of them looked like me.

몇몇은 코에 귀걸이를 했다. (코 피어싱), 몇몇은 여드름이 났다. 그들 중 아무도 나 같이 생기진 않았다. 

 

학교 생활을 하면서, 주변의 여러 시선들이 Auggie를 늘 따라다니고 피하려고 하는 타인들을 저렇게 표현했네요.

모르는 모든 사람에 대한 상처가 모두 외모에 대한 것이고, 다른 학교 학생들의 외모가 아무리 변해도 자기 같은 외모는 없다고 표현하고 있습니다.

Then he patted me on the shoulder, like he was dusting me off, and took off after his freinds.

For some reason, me and Jack started cracking up.

   그는 먼지 털듯이 내 어깨를 툭툭 치더니, 그의 친구를 뒤쫓아갔다.

   갑자기 나와 잭은 웃기 시작했다.

 

This time the two of us were laughing so much we counldn't stop, even after Mr. Roche came over and made us both switch chairs with the kids next to us.

   이번엔 둘이 웃는 것을 멈출 수 없었다. Mr. Roche 선생님은 옆에 아이들과 자리를 바꾸게 했다.

They are more important than what we say or what we look like.
그들은 우리가 말하는 것과 어떻게 생겼는지 보다 더 중요하다.

The things we do outlast our mortality.
우리가 하는 일은 죽음보다 오래 지속된다.

The things we do are like mounments that people build to honor heroes after they've died.
그것은 영웅이 죽고 난 후 명예롭게 하기 위하여 사람들이 기념비를 새우는 것과 같다.

They're like the pyramids that the Egyptians built to honor the pharaohs.
그들은 이집트인들이 파라오를 기리기 위해 피라미드를 세운 것과 같다.
Only instead of being made out of stone, they’re made out of the memories pepole have of you.
오직 돌로 만들어졌지만, 그들은 사람들이 그를 기억하게 만들었다.
That’s why your deeds are like your monuments.
왜 당신의 행동이 당신의 기념비적인 것과 같냐면
Built with memories instead of with stone.
돌로 대신해 기억을 세워서 이다.
