The War

 

"So big freakin' deal."

 

 진짜 망할 놈이네.

 

"News flash: I stopped being his friend completely first!"

 

뉴스속보 : 내가 먼저 그와 친구 안 하기로 했어!

 

"I'll let you know if I hear anything else, " she said.

Before she went out, she looked left and right outside the door to

make sure no one saw her leaving.

I guess even though she was neutral, she didn't want to be seen with me.

 

"다른 이야기 듣게 되면 또 알려줄게" 그녀가 말했다.
그녀가 나가기 전에 아무도 없는지 좌우를 살피고 나갔다.

그녀는 아마도 중립을 지키려 했고,
나와 함께 있는 것을 보이고 싶지 않은 것 같았다.

 

 

Switching Tables

 

"Sit with us, Jack." It was Summer. 
She and August were sitting at their table, and they were both waving me over. 

 

우리랑 앉아 잭, 그건 summer였다.

그녀와 어거스트가 앉은 그들의 테이블은 둘 다 나를 향해 손을 흔들었다.

 

 

Why I Didn't Sit with August the First Day of School

I heard Summer had sat down with August, which surprised me 
because I knew for a fact she wasn't one of the kids that Tushman had talked to about being friends with Auggie. 
So I knew she was doing it just to be nice, and that was pretty brave, I thought. 

 

나는 그녀가 어거스트 옆에 앉았다는 걸 전혀 듣고 놀랐다.

이유는 투쉬 맨이 어거스트의 좋은 친구가 되라고 했던 아이들 중에 그녀는 없었기 때문이다.

그래서 그녀가 정말 멋진 행동을 했고, 용기 있고 아름답다고 나는 생각했다. 

 

 

"to not have people talking to you, pretending you don't even exist."

 

   "사람들이 너에게 말 걸지 않을 거야, 네가 존재하지 않는 것처럼 행동할 거고"

 

 

 

Jack이 왜 Auggie와 점심 안 먹었었는지 Summer와 함께 했던 것도 듣고 그냥 신경을 아예 안 쓴 것 아닌 것 같네요.

이젠 Jack도 왕따가 되어 버린 것 같네요. 줄리안 진짜 나쁘네요.
