<읽기> wonder 원더 원서 Day 31

벌써 한 달이 넘었는데 마침 다시 August시점 이야기를 읽게 되었습니다.

주인공이라 그런지 어떤 마음인지 제일 궁금하고 가장 흥미로운 부분입니다.

Jack과 화해 후에 또 무슨 일이 있을지 궁금하네요.

영화에서도 유난히 귀여웠던 두 사람의 우정 더 자세히 읽어보겠습니다.

North Pole

 

It's like how compass needles always point north, no matter which way you're facing. All those eyes are compasses and I'm like the North Pole to them. 

 

어느 쪽을 향하든 나침반의 바늘은 북쪽을 가리킨다. 모든 이들의 눈은 나침반이고 나는 북극과 같다.

Six months ago stuff like that would never have happened, but now it happens more and more.
Also, people have been really nice about the hearing aids I started wearing. 

 

6개월 전에는 이런 일이 일어나지 않았는데, 그런데 지금은 점점 이런 일들이 일어난다.

또한 사람들이 내가 보청기를 착용하는 것에 대해서 진심으로 친절하게 대해 준다. 

 

 

Lobot

My hearing was getting worse, but I hadn't told anyone about it. 
The ocean sound that was always in my head had been getting louder. 
It was drowning out people's voices like I was underwater.

 

나의 청력이 점점 나빠져갔지만 나는 아무에게도 이야기하지 않았다.

항상 바닷소리가 내 머릿속을 울렸다. 내가 바닷속에 있는 것처럼 사람들의 목소리는 흩어졌다.

 

 

 

 

학교를 다니면서 직접 어기와 지내다 보니 겉모습이 아닌 진짜 어기를 알게 된 반 친구들

조금씩 변화하는 주변의 반응을 느끼는 어기

나침반과 북극 이야기는 시적이면서도 슬픈 문장으로 느껴집니다.
