The Grand Tour

No one said a word as we walked up tp the third floor.

 

   우리는 3층을 걸어 오를 때까지 아무도 아무 말도 하지 않았다.

 

Julian moved out of the way qickly, like he was afraid I might accidentally touch him as I passed by him.

 

   Julian은 빠르게 지나쳤다. 그는 자칫 잘못해 나와 닿는 것을 두려워하는 처럼 나를 지나쳐갔다.

 

The Performance Space

Charlotte started skipping toward the stage. Julian ran after her, and then turned around halfway down the aisle.

"Come on!" he said loudly, waving for me to follow him, which I did.

 

   Charlotte은 줄넘기하듯 무대로 뛰어가기 시작했다. Julian이 그녀를 뒤쫓아가다가 반쯤 돌아섰다.

   "어서 이리 와!" 그가 큰소리로 외치며, 나에게 따라 오라며 손을 흔들었고, 나는 그렇게 했다.

 

he looked at me right in the face, kind of daring me to look back at him, which I did. Then I actually smiled.

I don't know. Sometimes when I have the feeling like I'm almost crying, it can turn into an almost laughing feeling.

 

   그가 나를 똑바로 쳐다봤고, 내가 그를 보는 것을 대담한 것으로 여기는 것 같아 나는 그렇게 했다.

   그때 난 확실히 미소 지었다. 나도 잘 모르겠다. 가끔 울고 싶을 때 울음을 웃음으로 변하기도 한다.

 

And that must have been the feeling I was having then, because I smiled, almost like I was going to giggle.

The thing is, because of the way my face is, peple who don't know me very well don't always get that I'm smiling.

My mouth dosen't go up at the corners the way other people's mouths do.

It just goes straight across my face. But somehow Jack Will got that I had smiled at him. and he smiled back.

 

   그때 느꼈던 내 감정이 그랬을 거야 그래서 웃었다. 거의 낄낄 거리는 것 같았다.

   내 얼굴 때문에 나를 모르는 사람들은 내가 웃는 걸 이해하지 못한다.

   나의 입은 다른 사람들 입처럼 구석 (입꼬리 끝으로) 올라가지 않는다. 그냥 내 얼굴을 가로지른다.

   어찌 된 일인지 Jack은 내가 미소 지은 줄 알고 그도 미소 지어줬다.

   * 친해지고 싶어서 먼저 미소 지은 거, 그걸 알고 웃어준 거 너희들 우정 응원해

 

But I could tell from the way he looked at me that he wasn't really sorry at all.

 

   그러나 그가 날 보는 눈빛은 전혀 미안해하는 것이 아닌 걸 알 수 있었다.

 

 

Auggie가 Jack이 단어를 잘못 쓴 걸 수정해줬더니 살짝 스쳐서 휘청이게 했는데요.

너무 유치해서 초등학생이냐?라고 하려고 했는데 네 초등학생이었네요. 이제 5학년 중학생이 되어가는,,,

분명 읽을 때는 이해가 되는 것 같은데 막상 해석하면 생소한 느낌이네요.
